SAY YES TO YOGA PARTIES FOR MENTAL WELLNESS

This vina-date idea is perfect for yoga aficionados and newbies. Hosting a yoga party is a great way to spend time with your vinas while assuring your mental and physical well-being. If you’ve been doing vinyasa flow for years, consider leading the group yourself. If you’ve never touched your feet (or hands) to a yoga mat, consider letting a more seasoned vina to guide the group.

According to the American Osteopathic Organization (Dr. Bones and Muscles 😏), yoga has a TON of physical benefits. If you need some convincing, check these out: increased flexibility, increased muscle strength and tone, improved breathing, energy, and vitality (woo!), a balanced metabolism, improved heart health (etc., the list really does go on and on).

As for the mental benefits? Try stress management, mental clarity and alertness, (much-needed) relaxation, and body awareness – just to name a few.

So, the benefits are endless. How should you go about organizing a yoga party for your vinas? Start with the group hangout basics: pick a weekend, and send out invites to vinas that you think would enjoy a yoga party. Next, the deets: are you going to lead the group or do you need to ask a yogi friend to help out? You can also find tons of tutorials online that you and your vinas can do together. I love Dana Falsetti (aka NOLA Trees) for her body positivity and flexibility with yoga newbies.

On the day of the party, all you’ll need are some blankets or mats, light snacks, and ambiance! Try lighting some candles (a safe distance away from your active yoga space), and play some soft background music. If you can do yoga in your backyard, that’s even better! Most importantly, relax and have fun. 😊

While this would be worth it as a one-time thing, you could also turn it into a weekly or monthly series! We’ve never needed a downward dog emoji more.
