IT TAKES AWESOME WOMEN TO MAKE AWESOME WOMEN

The VINA Society and VINA Team share their thoughts on their awesome moms!

We get pretty mushy around the topic of Mother’s Day around here, and even though it was the day before yesterday, we’re still talking about how much we love our mammas. They’re our best friends, inspiration, and #1 confidant.

We asked a few of our VINA Society members and VINA Team members to share a few thoughts on what makes their mom so special to them.

We hope all you daughters had a fabulous time celebrating your mothers this weekend, and all you mammas got properly pampered.

Cheers to the awesome women who make awesome women. XO

My mom is a sweetheart and cries at the drop of a hat, but she is also a force to be reckoned with. She dresses way better than I do, and I will never cook as well as she does either (especially since, like many Vietnamese moms, she can never tell me exact amounts for ingredients every time I ask her how to cook something). I am taller than her and twice her size, but I’m pretty sure her heart is far, far bigger.

My mom, Lisa Rodriguez, is such an inspiration to me! She’s one of the most entrepreneurial and creative people I know. She taught me to pursue your passions above all else (her’s is horses!), to always be true to yourself, to celebrate and befriend interesting and eccentric people, and that it’s a whole lot more fun to stand out than fit in.

This is my mom at my age, holding me, holding a donut.  She was then, and still is one of my best friends and with each passing year we become even closer.  I can’t imagine what the last few years would have been like without her by my side through both the absolute best and darkest times. I thought by now I wouldn’t need my mom’s help very often – silly, silly me – not a day has gone by in my thirties that I haven’t looked to her for strength.

My moms name is Betty and she’s the most amazing woman I know. She’s famous for being the life of the party and she’s always had my back no matter what. I love her!

I appreciate my mom for literally always being on call for love & support no matter where I am in the world (often I’m on the other side of it). Growing up, she somehow managed to instill in me both a healthy skepticism of the patriarchy & power structures (before it was trendy) and the importance of doing quality work. She works as a designer based in my Midwest hometown, and we don’t see each other nearly enough lately. Miss you, Mom!

To the woman who taught me to never settle for less. My twin, my fellow Leo, the iron who sharpens iron. I know it’s never easy with me, but taking after you, that’s not necessarily a bad thing. Thanks for keeping me grounded, and reminding me to continue to work hard to pursue excellence without excuses.

My mom’s part of my inner-circle and crew. A best-friend and confidante, she’s been my number one cheerleader through all the good times and highs AND a shoulder to lean on during the not so great times and lows. From getting ink done together, to hitting the clubs together, to having those life talks- smoke a cig- and drive sessions – I’m glad our relationship has evolved to this great friendship!!

There’s no love that’s quite as fierce and pure as a mother’s love for her child, and Mother’s Day is all about celebrating just how strong, passionate, caring, sacrificing moms are in raising their children. Happy Mother’s Day from the VINA Team! 💓
