England has a special place in our hearts, and we couldn’t be more excited to have made our leap across the pond, as they say, and launch first European city in London!
To give you lovely London ladies some ideas of what to do once you get connected to new friends, here are a few of our favorite vina date destinations around town.
GET SUGAR HIGH.
ON CUPCAKES! Nothing says, “Hello, new friend,” like indulging in a sweet treat together. We recommend taking a trip to the Hummingbird Bakery in South Kensington, Notting Hill, or Soho. They’re famous for their red velvet, but who could go wrong with the ever classic rainbow cake? After you’re buzzing from your sugar rush, take a walk and get to know each other!
GET A LITTLE WEIRD.
“The residence of the eccentric British adventurer,” Mr. Fogg’s of Mayfair is a little odd in all the best ways. You need a reservation, so book yours for evening drinks, or even better– Tipsy Tea. That’s bottomless teapots of gin or champagne tea– yes, please!
You and your vina are bound to have a fantastic memory of your first meeting!
GET ON A BOAT.
There’s nothing that says we’re totally going to be future friends for life like hitting the high seas of the Serpentine with your vina. Head over to Hyde Park and snag a pedal boat. You’re bound to laugh ’til you cry in the battle to stay dry.
Plus, saying “I’m on a boat!” never gets old, right?! Uhhh…
Throw some clay on a pottery wheel. It’s fun and relaxing and you might actually be able to make something useful. Try a drop in date or setup a recurring class together. We love Turning Earth in Hoxton. This gorgeous little ceramics studio has fantastic classes for beginners.
There’s also Ceramics Stuido Co-Op that’s equally darling with both long form and drop in programs.
GO SOMEWHERE WITH A VIEW.
There are those magical evenings when the sky is clear and you can take off your coat and enjoy a cocktail on a rooftop. They’re not often, but they happen, and when they do, you must be prepared. Which is where The Madison at St. Paul’s comes in. The rooftop terrace is NOT to be missed. Actually, even on cozy evenings, you can still post up in the bar and sip on something fancy while diving into the latest and greatest in life.
OH! And the pistachio and violet dessert. Don’t ask, just order, Instagram, and devour. Trust.
This isn’t the first time we’ve shared this sentiment, but there’s nothing like a good cup of coffee and taking a walk with a new friend to get the ball rolling on first vina date. We love to nerd out on the incredible brews they have at Kaffeine.
Not only have they won a ton of awards but they also make charming videos and care about paying people a livable wage. So you can feel great about choosing to meet up here.
DANCE LIKE QUEEN BEY.
Take a diva dance class with your new vina. It’s a great way to break a sweat and break the ice when you’re busting a move (beginners, too!) just like the Queen Bey at City Academy. Not your style? Well there’s no denying the appeal of their 90s Britney Spears dance class. This has to be the definition of modern day meet cute. Not to mention, they have women only classes, so no need to worry about that awkward guy that shows up to these things and makes everyone feel a bit weird.
You have to have a convincing story to get into this speakeasy, Evans & Peel, hidden behind a detective agency. As you whisper amongst your whiskeys, your new vina is bound to be your next partner in crime… or solving it!
Don’t forget to book an appointment for your clandestine cocktails before you arrive.
The #1 thing to keep in mind is that once you get your introduction on Hey! VINA, you know the other vina is ready to meet so it’s time to plan an outing straight away. Hop to it, have fun, and get out there!
