Hey vinas! So, the holidays are around the corner and it’s almost time to write out those resolutions! Don’t have any in mind yet? It’s okay. The current year is still here, and you still have time to make things right and accomplish your goals. But what is the real secret to finishing out the year strong, before the new year? Well, go out and experience life!

As humans, we get the most out of experience, so that will always be number one. How were you best able to grow? Well, you were pushing yourself out there into the world, experiencing life itself. I can make all the vision boards I want to, but some of the best life-changing experiences and catalysts for true self-growth are the pictures that aren’t on the board. Mistakes will be made, vinas, but it’s okay. Sometimes we want to carefully plan out our every step. That is totally fine, but there is a plan B – Z, that we always make, ladies. And why? We all know the famous excuse, “Just in case, plan A, doesn’t work” Now, a second way to make things work and finish the year strong would be to visualize and attract what we want, which is what some people set out to do and achieve their dreams. Also, a third way to finish 2018 strong is to never give up. Life is hard sometimes, but perseverance ensures that the fire will always burn deep within you.

We all say that life is full of ups and downs. That is because the statement is truer than ever before, vinas. We can never wait and plan too much, because life will go on, with or without you. I never want you to go out into the world aimlessly, so yes, have a plan, but don’t think it is the end of the world if you don’t achieve your goals right away. There are little side roads that may appear, but they are there to teach a lesson. Know that you’ll always get back onto the main road again, so live your life, vina!

This powerful duo goes hand in hand. We all know to “attract what we want,” but how can we do so? There are various books on the subject. This is an essential key to getting what we want. The mind is a powerful thing, so why not use it to your advantage? We can have what we want if we simply believe. I am definitely using this method, and it has given some amazing opportunities, so put this on your list, vinas!

Yes, vinas, I still want you to make that vision board and write those resolutions down. Do not think that your plans will not happen. They will. The key among many, is persistence. My point of life being full of ups and downs, applies greatly with this key point, because many give up when life throws them a curveball. You can not give up, if you really want to manifest and make your dreams a reality. Never, ever give up vinas.
I know that all of the essential keys in this list will take you far, in not only accomplishing goals for this year, but for yourselves moving forward. To really finish this year strong, visualize yourself and where you want to be in your life. There’s no better time than the present, to grab life by the reins and enjoy the ride, uniquely built for you, vinas!

Happy holidays and a happy new year to all you vinas!

When I thought about this question, the first person that came to mind was Beyonce. I must admit I felt intimidated just thinking of being Yonce’s BFF. I realized that what I value most in a friendship is reciprocation, first of all. I don’t wanna feel like I’m friends with a ghost. And secondly, availability. Let’s be honest, Yonce is a busy girl. And we both have small kids. It sounds practical but if it’s not gonna be work, it’s gonna be performing at Blue’s school. I’d spend more time with her as her assistant.

I thought about it and thought about it some more, and I was watching Overboard one Sunday afternoon and I thought, this girl is the ILLEST. Anna Faris is absolutely my favourite celeb in the world right now. She’s funny, quirky, and doesn’t try too hard. Plus her baby daddy is Chris Pratt, and who doesn’t want to hang out with Star-Lord every once in a while?

We both have steady working hours, so we both kind of have an idea of when we would be working and when we will have time off. We would never be each other’s second choice.

She is absolutely hilarious.  She enjoys making people laugh, I enjoy laughing. Vina match made in heaven!

We share the same philosophy on life which is “Surround yourself with people that are loving and people that you love”. Out with negativity, in with love. That’s a thumbs up from me, Ms. Faris.

We’re both very chill. Her twitter feed (if you don’t follow her on twitter yet, make sure you do- @AnnaKFaris) is essentially a photo-mentary of her life. We definitely have the same idea about

She has a podcast called “Unqualified”!! It won the Shorty Award for best Podcast in 2017. She interviews celebrities and cultural figures and gives listeners relationship and other advice. I don’t have anything to say about how we’re the same here, I just wanted to give her some free publicity because I love her.

We are both moms so doing the mom run for each other would not be a problem – provided that we lived close to each other.

And to convince everyone that we are each other’s spirit animals, we both love cooking, we’re both short and we both have mom crushes on Reese Witherspoon and Kristen Bell!

I love watching T.V. shows that depict a group of moms who are best friends. Their kids play together and always just happen to be in the same class. Meals are made and carpools are organized effortlessly, as if everyone is on a synchronized schedule. Their houses may range from immaculate to disastrous, but that’s the only thing defining their differences. I can’t help but feel a pang of jealousy. How do these moms make friends?

I recently thought to myself how I have no friends who are single moms. As a mom of two boys, ages 6 and 18, I want a vina that understands what the tears are about when my son graduates high school next year. I want her to feel my happiness as I watch my child become an independent first-grader. So how does a mama find her tribe?

The easiest way to find other vina moms is to download the Hey! VINA app. You can join a community (how many you want!) like Stay-at-Home Moms, Working Moms, or New Mom  and you can be matched with other vinas in the same category you chose. Then, just swipe right for a vina that you want to connect with!

You have interests and hobbies, so share them! Get out there and find a group of vinas that you can participate in your interests with. Chances are, there will be a few that are fellow vina mamas themselves looking to chat. Exchange numbers so that you can make plans. The key here is to follow through! It’s easy to say “let’s keep in touch,” but harder to commit to it. Call or text them and make plans for a coffee meet date. If it’s hard to do because you have kids, bring them along! Kids are natural at making friends, so let them play while you two vina mamas get to know each other.

There’s a lot of pressure on women, especially the modern mama, to portray a certain image or picture of what a mom or woman should be. Remember all moms go through ups and downs and face the same stigmas. The vina mama in faded yoga pants is no different than the one wearing a nicely ironed pantsuit (but how did she find the time to iron it?!).

Building a relationship takes time. Being patient and getting to know someone is a slow process, but very rewarding. Having someone to talk to about your daily highs and lows is exciting. If one way doesn’t work, try another. There is a best vina out there for everyone — mamas included.

A few words come to mind when I think of the women of the Star Wars franchise. Strength. Resilience. Leadership. Grace. Smarts.

Leia, Padme, and Rey are strong symbols of feminism and have been fierce and fighting since the late 1970s.

giphy (3).gifAs a girl, I idolized Princess Leia from the original trilogy. Aside from her fashion and iconic hair, I especially loved how she ran things. I was a bossy little girl and always wanted to be a princess, so I loved having a galactic princess who was in charge to admire. She was the epitome of every word I mentioned previously: strong, resilient, and a smart leader. She was one of the first women in film I remember admiring.

When I was in high school, I met Padme Amidala. She showed me you could be graceful, kind, and a leader. She fought for those who couldn’t fight for themselves, and that was an important to learn when I was a teenager. Padme taught me to stick up for those who don’t have a voice, to be kind, and not be afraid to lead.

giphy (5).gifFast-forward to adulthood, when the seventh episode of the series came out. Rey is a young woman who is uncovering something very strong inside herself, which is something I feel we have all identified with at one point or another in our lives. Her yearning to become something bigger is realized and her strength and smarts carry her through her journey of self-discovery. It fills my heart with joy knowing young girls today have a modern Leia to adore.

Even Jyn Erso from Rogue One is a force to be reckoned with. She was strong and not afraid to stand up and fight. Her strength and passion to fulfill her mission carried her through the film and is someone women, young and old, can admire.

Who was your favorite woman of the Star Wars universe and what has she taught you? Tell us in the comments below! And make sure to celebrate May the Fourth with your closest vinas!

I hope I’m not the first to tell you, but May is only a few days away. If your senioritis is quickly being cured by a hard dose of reality, it’s not too late to get your sh*t together. Here are some tips so you don’t have to hit the panic button just yet:

With “real life” right around the corner and potential panic setting in, the worst thing you can do is rush into something you haven’t had time to think about. At this point, you’ve probably been in school for the majority of your life — a year off to get your head straight might do you some good.

You may be taking some time off, but your after school vacation will wear off eventually. If you connected with people in your class or your professors (or, on Hey! VINA around campus), make sure you exchange emails that don’t end in “.edu”. If you do decide to pursue additional school in the future, or think you might eventually need a reference, you’ll want to make sure you still have a way to contact those useful connections.

If you’re leaving school with a degree but still haven’t found your passion, perhaps it’s better not to rush into a career that you aren’t crazy about. Just remember, when you graduate, additional schooling and job opportunities will always be there. But, if you get yourself too deep into something you’re not excited about, you might regret the lost time later in life. When you aren’t sure what to do, take that as a signal that you should figure it out on your terms and on your watch. People may be pressuring you to get it together, but you’re the one who has to live with whatever life you throw together in a matter of months- make it one you love.

Have any advice for those on their way out of college with not a clue what to do? Let us know in the comments!

Whether it’s a bag of the fruity booze or a pricey bottle of Prosecco, there’s something on the spectrum for everyone. Now, read up on what your favorite vino says about you and your vinas:

Of your squad, you’re the sweetest, which makes you loved all-around. You’re a bit of a wallflower, but despite your quietness, you’re wildly independent, and your vinas respect this about you. You are unstoppable.

You’re very old school but not in a stuffy way—you just love honoring traditions, whether those be social traditions or ones specific to you and your loved ones. You’re a true romantic and pride yourself in being down-to-earth.

You’re sassy and bold. Your love for life is contagious. Your vivacious nature keeps you always on the move, so you’re worldlier and more well-traveled than most your pals. This gives you an air of sophistication and an elevated awareness of those around you.

If your vinas were to sum you up in one word, it would be “classy.” But don’t mistake this sophistication for snobbery. You’re as easygoing as you are elegant. This balance makes you incredibly unique—a true standout amongst your peers.

You are absolutely beautiful, but there’s more than meets the eye. Those who know you will recognize your beauty exudes from within as well. Your complexness makes you intriguing as well as empathetic and understanding.

You embody fun. Your vinas can always count on you to be the life of the party. Your go-with-the-flow attitude makes you everyone’s favorite person to spend time with. Along with your carefreeness comes an air of mystery, which only draws others to you further.

Share this with your vinas to figure out which wine you are!
