How many times have you and your vinas decided that there was nothing to do, simply because you couldn’t think of anything within your budget? Well, think again ladies. Here’s a list of 20 things you can do with your vinas on a budget, organized by cost.
(Depending on where you live, you may need to consider bus or gas costs, which will bump up the cost!)
OPEN MIC NIGHT
Skip the alcohol (which we all know can be pricey), and just enjoy the moment!
Go for some great photos and to meet your local makers, (if you can resist buying everything).
SWEAT IT OUT
Gym memberships usually have an option to let you bring a friend for free. Or go for a hike!
DISCOVER SOME MAGIC
Visit your local crystal/gemstone shop for some free positive vibes.
GAZE AT THE STARS
Grab your vinas and a box of wine, and lay out underneath the stars.
HAVE A PHOTO SHOOT
Your vinas can all take turns hyping each other up as you each pose for the camera.
MAKE A TIME CAPSULE
This one’s pretty self-explanatory!
OLD IS NEW AGAIN
Be a tourist in your own city. See everything with a fresh, curious perspective!
“CHEAP” DATES: $5 – $10
GO ON AN ICE CREAM DATE
So simple, but so rewarding.
OR, GO ON A COFFEE DATE
Like ice cream, but with coffee.
HOST A POTLUCK PARTY
Each vina can bring a homemade dish.
HAVE AN OLD-FASHIONED SLEEPOVER
Complete with cheesy Drew Barrymore movies, makeovers and popcorn. Also a great time to bring other those homemade dishes and have a potluck.
EXPLORE A CORN MAZE
If your city has one of these (and it’s open), you’re in luck. Corn mazes are packed with fun for a low entry cost.
ENGAGE IN A BAKE-OFF
Having a (friendly) baking competition between you and your Vina’s.
“MODERATELY-PRICED” DATES: $10 – $20
It’ll only be pricey if you have to rent a bike. My city has bike rentals for $15 for 3 hrs.
This is one can be pricey, but can be kept low if your vinas all pitch in.
Simple, cheap, and amazing cafeteria food to indulge in? It’s the perfect guilty pleasure vina date night.
DRIVE – IN
If it’s open in your city, make it a goal to drive up there with your vinas for some old-fashioned fun.
The prices may be cheap, but the quality of memories made will be anything but.
Have an idea for a VINA date, or want to get one of these ideas started? Download the Hey! VINA app and find your tribe.
So, you and your vinas are finally free on the same day, and can hang out! Super, exciting! What will you wear? But most importantly, where will you go? Check out this list of fun hang out spots in L.A. Share the list in your group chat, and move on to watching YouTube videos. Yay! Or, you can be awesome and host an event at any of the places below:
Do you love food? Bond over a delicious meal at any of the amazing eatery options in Los Angeles.
Check out this cute restaurant located on the 69th floor of InterContinental Los Angeles Downtown, which is the tallest building on the west coast! Whether you want to try the sky view buffet or brunch the delicious meals and beautiful views are sure to make for a memorable day. Call ahead and make a reservation. Prices range from $35 and up.
Do bottomless mimosas for $8.00 sound even better to you? Yeah, me too! Head on over to Barbrix or Market Provisions ($5.00 bottomless mimosas) this weekend. It’s a small place but it’s great for groups. Brunch ends at 3 pm. The food is delicious.
Next, for all you sushi lovers (after all the California roll was invented in Los Angeles). Go to Sushi Stop in Hollywood or Pasadena. You can order small portions and all the menu items range from $3 to $8. So have fun and order away! By the way, the salads are great too.
If you prefer an all you can eat spot try Sushi by Jin. The fish is always fresh and you can’t beat all you can eat sushi for the low price of $30. Oh, and free green tea ice-cream!
If you are in Glendale stop by Octopus Restaurant. They are not all you can eat, but they have great desserts. If you stop by during happy hour you can get an amazing deal. Their happy hour is almost as amazing as their dynamite roll.
Bring along at least one vina and visit Castle BBQ, an all you can eat Korean BBQ restaurant a few minutes away from Los Angeles City College. The food is great and only costs $12 per person for all you can eat. They literally have a sign at the door that says they won’t serve you food unless you’re a party of 2 or more. Also, there is always a line so be prepared to wait 10-30 minutes. You will be more than grateful to have your vinas!
Although I can go on and on about all the amazing food places in L.A., let’s move on to a 4.20 friendly event.
If your already high and that’s the only reason you read this far, let me tell you about the “Magic Bus Experience.” A general admission ticket costs $35 and includes free arcade games, a hot box disco, a pillow fort, Karaoke, a cosmic temple, a living coloring room, a bubble wrap bathroom, a Play-Doh kitchen among other multi-sensory experiences. Imagine being stoned while falling down a rabbit hole into an Alice in Wonderland themed black light mini golf course. Just in case your Maryjane vinas are not convinced yet, there’s also an unlimited CBD tea and an unlimited tater tot bar!
TAKE A COOKING CLASS
Feeling adventurous? Take a cooking class with your vinas at Hip Cooks in East L.A. or West L.A. The classes are 3 hours long and cost $75. Make sure to sign up ahead of time because they don’t accept walk-ins. On March 14th they have “Thai One On” class and on March 17th they have “Dim Sum and then Some” class. They also have “Don’t cry for me Argentina,” “The Mo’rockin (Morrocan) spice trail,” “The cheesecake whiz,” “Jamaican me crazy,” and other fun classes.
If you and your vinas have been wanting to go out for a movie, this outdoor cinema is perfect. Have dinner and order cocktails while watching the movie, or stop by L.P. the rooftop bar adjacent to the theatre before the movie. Plan ahead and buy tickets for this April the calendar is out now!
Calling all dancing queens! Arena K-town is a free entry club. Thursdays is 18+ and the rest of the days are 21+. Don’t forget to take a selfie next to their “We do it for the ratchets” sign. There is usually a long line so come early. The Avalon, Lit LA, Elevate Lounge and Electric pussycat are also great picks. Because who doesn’t love to dance?
ORGANIZE A MUSEUM DAY
Los Angeles has so many amazing museums and some of them are free on certain days. Stop by Moca, they are offering multiple unique exhibitions this spring in celebration of their 40th anniversary.
Stop by the museum of selfies in Hollywood and take the most epic selfie in the group. Speaking of groups, they do offer group discounts if you email them ahead of time. They are a pop-up museum so if they are no longer in your area you can always stop by The Museum of Illusions which has a permanent location in Los Angeles. This is such a fun interactive experience and you are sure to have some awesome Instagram worthy photos.
This place is beautiful! Entrance is still free and you can take turns looking through the telescopes. A starry night is sure to be a memorable experience. For vinas hanging out in the day time, Griffith Park is a great place to go hiking and see the Hollywood sign. You can also have a picnic or even go horseback riding. The scenery is wonderful.
There are so many amazing things to do in the City of Angeles, and even more angels in the city to do them with. Find your angel squad on Hey! VINA today and plan your L.A. adventure!
This is probably my favorite day of the year, second to my own birthday and Christmas, of course. It’s time to round up your vinas and plan a wine date ASAP!
Here are a few of my suggestions on how to celebrate this wine-derful day with your vinas.
VINA WINERY TRIP
Check out some of your local wineries! Look around, and find a few places you’ve never been. All you need to do is grab your vinas, make sure your cameras are charged, and off you go!
Vina-to-vina Tip: Drinking and driving is never okay. Please ensure that you have a safe means of travel. Either someone needs to sit out of the drinking and be the designated driver, or you can find a local wine tour company and use the drive-me-home service after.
WINE NIGHT IN
If you’re a bit of a home-bug like me and prefer to be in the comfort of your own home, you can host a cheese & wine evening at your place. Invite your vinas over and ask each to bring a bottle of wine and a complimentary cheese. You could even make a game out of the evening by asking everyone to bring the cheese in unmarked containers and to take the wine’s labels off. Then it’s time to let your creative juices flow. Make up your own wine-and-cheese Mad Libs to make up your own detailed descriptions of the wines and cheeses.
Vina-To-Vina Tip: Make sure you have movies like “Pretty Woman,” “The Greatest Showman,” or any other girls-night classics ready to watch with your vinas. And again, I can’t say this enough: don’t drink and drive. Make alternative plans to get everyone home safely.
VINA PICNIC DATE
My last suggestion is for nature lovers or anyone that just needs to get out of the house without breaking the bank. Call up your vinas and make plans to meet up at the nearest park, take a big blanket, some pillows, a picnic baskets with a bottle of wine, and some snacks like cold meats, chips, crackers, etc. Go find a spot under a big tree and just relax the day away with your vinas, talking about things big and small. It’s a great way to bond and to get out of the house without using all of your spending money for the month.
Vina-to-vina Tip: Make sure to be aware of all the park rules, some places do not allow alcohol and some do. Also, make sure you pack that sunscreen to protect your skin at all times.
Now pick up the phone and make some plans! No matter how busy our lives get, we should always remember and make the effort to make time for those people in our lives that make it good.
Get swiping on the Hey! VINA app and find a vina to make a #VinaWineDate. Remember to share your time with Vina on Facebook or on Instagram.
With over 10,000 years of history, cannabis has become known as a miracle plant with many different uses. Cannabis was first introduced to America as a recreational drug called marihuana in the early 1900s by Mexican immigrants who were fleeing from the violent Mexican Revolution.
Since then, many people have not only used cannabis for its medicinal purposes, but also for fun. The plant has been used to “let loose” and “open one’s mind.” This makes marijuana great for both social scenes and personal uses. A big question many stoner babes are left with is, “I’m so stoned… now, what do I do?” Don’t waste your next high, try some of these fun activities with your vinas!
FILM A DANCE OR LIP SYNC BATTLE
Take your favorite song (“God is a Woman” pulls out my inner GRL PWR) and put on a Grammy performance, maybe add a couple of backup dancers. Or choreograph some smooth moves to your favorite tune. It may not be Broadway material, but trust me, it would definitely make for a funny video.
PUFF N’ PAINT
Roll one, smoke one and create some art. Just let the brush take over. Discover your inner artist (and if it doesn’t come, stick figures are great, too). Or if you don’t have any paint with you at the moment, feel free to get some colored pens, markers, your little sister’s crayons and go crazy!
Inhale the weed, exhale the B.S. Unwind from a long day with a meditation and yoga session. Namaste high.
Think you know everything there is to know about your city? Think again! City tours are an inexpensive way to discover new spots near you. Bonus points if you learn something new!
TAKE A WALK AND GO TO THE PARK
Just leave the house. Maybe you don’t live in the most scenic neighborhood, but you might be amazed at what you notice when you’re high. Not only do you get some fresh air, but once you hit the park you can also soar through the sky on the swingsets. And think about important questions such as: Do you ever wonder what your dog named you?
Nervous about trying cannabis for recreational use? The non-psychoactive CBD chemicals of cannabis are best known for their healing properties. Anna Duckworth, the co-founder and editor-in-chief of Miss Grass, an elevated lifestyle shop and publication for women and cannabis, has created a list of her go-to CBD products. My personal favorite is the Apothecanna Extra Strength Spray which I can feel its cooling sensation almost immediately. I use this after an intense workout to prevent muscle cramping and pain. This is perfect for the vina-on-the-go!

Well vinas, it’s 2019! A new year to learn new things about yourself. This year, challenge yourself to take on a new hobby. Learning a brand new thing will not only keep your brain healthy and strong, but it will also add to your tool belt. Here are five ideas to try, as well as some inspiring success story to help you get started:
My sister went off to college and very quickly realized that studying all day and all night was getting tiring. She was introduced to knitting by another friend and it was love from the on. Vinas, knitting is no longer your grandma’s pastime. My sister got so good at knitting, that she quickly learned to knit hats, headbands and scarves! She was offered an opportunity to make her own brand and even sell her items in a store.
LEARN TO PLAY AN INSTRUMENT
For the more patient vinas. I recently watched a video of a girl who taught herself how to play the violin in two years. I know, I know, it’s not one year….but still. If you really dedicate your time and you see progress, I say keep at it!
This goes beyond the “selfie”. Give your dad’s old camera a try. Choose a subject and play with lighting. Research the types of photography out there, and find out which ones attract you. Don’t be scared to get creative. If you really want a challenge, look up photos and try to recreate them with your own style. A good starting-off point? Henry Carroll’s Read This If You Want to Take Great Photographs, an easy-to-read and understandable guide on the basics of seeing and photographic techniques.
Remember in middle school, how you could read 3-5 books in a month? Start a book club with your bookworm vinas and converse every week about what you’ve read—wine glass in hand if that’s your preferred method. Dive into a different period in time, a romantic novel, or a good informative read. Watch your grammar improve and your knowledge expand! Win-win.
BAKING / COOKING
This hobby for me is actually very relaxing. Before I got married, the kitchen was not my friend. I would look up videos of how to cook rice, or bake cookies—you know, the simple things. I found out I was actually pretty good at it; The more I would cook or bake, the more creative I would get. I realized that cutting up veggies or mixing up ingredients relaxed me and made me feel confident that my end result was going to be delicious. Trust me, your spouse will have no problem being the judge of your baking/cooking! Grab your bestie and create something together, all while helping each other improve.
Whatever you decide to do this year, give it your best shot and enjoy it. Remember that a hobby is not a chore, or that you are on a time limit to improve. It is your creative space, your “me” time. Don’t get frustrated if your first choice of hobby doesn’t work out or interests you. Find another hobby that makes you happy and motivated! Cheers to new skills!
In need of a vina to help you navigate your new hobbies? Head over to the Hey! VINA app and meet vinas in the different communities that share your new-found interests!

I consider myself to be in the top .5% of Taylor’s biggest fans, so it may come as a shock that I’ve never been able to attend one of her shows. Until now. And let me tell you, I’ve never felt more justified in a purchase than I did about this one.
Let me set the stage, pun intended. Sitting about 20 feet from the secondary stage, the stadium is booming with people chatting about Camilla Cabello and Charlie XCX as they just finished their sets, when suddenly the lights go out, and 60,000 people’s wrists light up like sparkling stars in the night sky and the room is filled with a recording of all the reporters who’ve slammed Swift’s name followed by the word “REPUTATION” chanted by Swift herself. Pictures of T flash across the screen, paparazzi invading her personal space, childhood memories, the whole 9 yards. And then, the iconic boom of her hit single “Ready For It?” blasts in between screams. Taylor has arrived.
Every time this girl drops a new album I never think to myself “there’s no way this one will be better than the last” because I know “this one will be just as iconic as the rest.” But somehow, I’m still blown away in shock like I didn’t see it coming EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. I think this one means so much though because it’s like her own personal revolution. She has truly broken the systematic idea of fame and taken back the power. She’s not making apologetic public statements or involving the ever-so-quick-to-judge world in all of her mistakes.
Instead she’s pushing back like anyone else would. The difference is, she has a spotlight and a microscope on top of her at every turn. A lot of public figures seem to succumb to the pressure of what everyone else is telling them is socially acceptable, or what they should look like, or how to keep their image intact and be a role model. They buckle, and bend, and eventually break. But Taylor took all of the insane things that people tried to make a big deal out of and shame her for, and turned them into the ultimate eulogy for her reputation.
So I’m sweating my face off shouting “BIG REPUTATION BIG REPUTATION OOOOO YOU AND ME WE GOT BIG REPUTATIONS AHHHHH” and the set list is epic, obviously. All of the major moments from REP are played, the costumes are iconic, giant mechanical snakes are literally slithering out of the stages, when halfway through the show this gal climbs into a crystal ball of sorts, and flies across the stadium to take up residency on her first secondary stage. This was a moment that was so beautiful between Taylor and a single guitar that echoed throughout a dome of thousands of awestruck humans. This was a really unique experience for me because I’m so used to screaming lyrics at concerts and still not even being able to hear my own voice, but in that moment I could hear distinct voices three rows down as we all sang in harmony to the acoustic rendition of “Dancing With Our Hands Tied” and (only true Swifties will know) “Jump Then Fall.”
The old Taylor may have had to hit rock bottom to rise from the ashes, but she is most certainly not dead. Among other OG Swift tributes were “Love Story,” “You Belong With Me,” “Long Live” and many more. Long Live though, this one was emotional. Swift played it acoustic on piano mashed with “New Years Day” and confessed to fans that this song, would always be about them. Just the involvement, the inclusion, the feeling she gives you of being apart of something. She is the picture of selflessness and what it means to be humble in all that you do.
So, I had the pleasure of seeing this goddess rock the city of Detroit which happened just days after the great Aretha Franklin passed on from this earth. One of the most equally chilling and warming things I’ve ever experienced was a moment (seriously, 60 seconds) of silence in Aretha’s honor. The lights were cut, and suddenly all that could be heard was breath being drawn and Aretha Franklin’s soul passing on. Taylor prefaced the moment with a few words about Franklin’s legacy and all of the iconic music she brought to the city of Detroit, and the world, as well as all of the things she did for women’s rights, civil rights, and so many other acts of bettering our planet. I have so much respect for that moment, and the fact that I was able to experience it is something I won’t forget.
On top of paying homage to one of the great artists of our time that came before her, she managed to publicly thank EVERY member of her crew as well as EVERY member of the Ford Field Stadium crew. She literally thanked the people that sweep the floors and turn out the lights after the show ends. This is something you just don’t see at concerts, or in general. Her show was anything but all about her, it was a community of love, and laughter, and the joy of making music with people that support you and want to do the same.
So fellow Swifties, and those of you new to the crew, if you’re still contemplating getting your tickets to the Reputation Stadium Tour, stop thinking and start ordering! Our girl has officially gone international so add a plane ticket and your fave vinas and you’ve got yourself a pre-holiday vacation! How much fun would this be as a vina date?! You won’t regret it, trust me.
Want to meet other vinas who are total Swifties? Get the Hey! VINA app and shake it off together!
‘Tis the season for sweater weather, all things spooky, and of course, all things pumpkin spice. While we all love going to the mall or grabbing brunch, it can get repetitive. With fall (A.K.A. the best season) coming soon, why not get creative with how you hang with your vinas? We are here to bring you brand new dates ideas for you and your gals to enjoy. Those cute fall boots were made for walkin’ so let’s start our autumn adventures!
A HAUNTED HOUSE
Get spooky with a fellow vina by visiting the scariest house on your block or attending the nearest haunted attraction. We recommend not splitting up though!
YOUR LOCAL FARMER’S MARKET
Fall is the time for hearty soups, warm casseroles and all the comfort food that taste the best with fresh ingredients.
A PUMPKIN PATCH
You won’t find the Great Pumpkin like Charlie Brown, but hopefully, you’ll go home with a mini pumpkin and ton of new pics for Instagram. (Fall is the perfect time for amping up your Insta game!)
GO. . .
FOR A HIKE
With the beautiful fall foliage, going on a hike is the best way to enjoy the view while getting in a great workout.
Why is the apple such a fall staple? We don’t know, but we’re not complaining! Take a trip to an apple orchard and stock up on apples to make pies, strudels and even hot apple cider.
Forget Starbucks and visit your city’s coziest cafes to warm up. We recommend hot chocolate, peppermint tea and, sure, pumpkin spice latte.
Not only is volunteering a great way to help those in need, but it’s also known to make you a happier person. Add a vina, and you’ve got yourself the perfect definition of do good, feel good.
HOST. . .
A COSTUME PARTY
Who says kids are the only ones who can have fun on Halloween? Host your own costume party with less candy and a little more costume–because you know, us vinas are all about dressing up in the best costumes!
A potluck is not only a great way to get to know multiple vinas, but it’s also fantastic for picking up new recipes and sharing your new, home-cooked dish.
A THANKSGIVING DINNER
While we’re all for family, not everyone can see theirs on holidays. Channel your inner Monica Geller and treat some vinas to your very own Friendsgiving (minus the turkey head, of course).
Looking for new vinas to spend the fall (and forever) with? Start swiping here! And don’t forget to search open plans in your area to join up with new vinas!
