10 EASY WAYS TO ORGANIZE YOUR LIFE

And how it can change you for the better!

As crazy as it sounds, it’s true: Organizing a few things in your day-to-day life can dramatically change your life. For starters, it truly can help you feel better about yourself and it can make your goals more achievable overall. So with that being said, here are a few ways that you can organize your life and reach your full potential:

USE A PLANNER

Using a planner is a huge help. Being able to visualize you plans for the day, week and month is helpful in remembering what you have going on in the upcoming future. Keep your appointments, meetings, and VINA dates all in one spot!

KEEP YOUR EVERYDAY NECESSITIES CLOSE

Now, this is one of my favorite ways to keep organized and it’s something that I personally do. I like to have what I call a “launchpad” close to my front door. Have your purse, keys, jacket and shoes all in the same place, all the time. This way, when you need to leave–whether you’re in a rush or not–you won’t need to go searching for anything.

KEEP “HOTSPOTS” CLEAN

Every house and office has a “hotspot” for clutter. Usual suspects are the random drawer in the kitchen, the dining room table, a certain part of your cubicle, your nightstand, and even some bedroom drawers. It’s easy to use these spots as places to throw all kinds of junk in (keys, pens, papers, etc.). Take note of these places and tidy them up daily.

DAILY TO-DO LIST

Make a new to-do list each day based on what you need to get done and hope to accomplish. If something on the previous day’s list was not checked off, add it to the new list and be sure to get it done. If you’re not a big list maker and only jot down the big projects, look at it every day and cross off what you’ve completed, or what you’ve deemed no longer relevant. This will keep you organized and feeling accomplished!

DECLUTTER YOUR WALLET

Organizing your wallet is one of the best ways to quickly and easily organize your life. Tackle this whenever you have some downtime–like sitting on a train or during a lunch break. Get rid of all the unimportant business cards, old receipts and expired credit cards and your wallet will feel brand new!

PLAN OUT YOUR MEALS

If you plan your meals before you go to the store, you are less likely to buy extra food that will go to waste and eventually be thrown out. Make a list of the food you need and check it off as you pick up the items at the store. Another little key tip is to never go to the store on an empty stomach, you’ll want to buy everything you see!

PICK OUT YOUR CLOTHES IN ADVANCE

By choosing your outfit the night before the next day, it gives you more time in the morning to ignore your alarms and actually wake up. Even if you don’t feel like wearing it, or the weather doesn’t allow for it, it gives you a basis to go off of. This will help you reduce your stress and give you more time for yourself.

CLEAN OUT YOUR CLOSET

Every couple of months, purge your closet! This will help you to organize your closet and get rid of the things you don’t need. Clean out all the clothes that you don’t wear or don’t like and if they are in good condition, donate them! Just because you can’t wear them doesn’t mean nobody else can.

EMPTY YOUR FRIDGE

Cleaning out your fridge at the end of each week means that you can get rid of older food and leftovers before they go bad and help you to organize your life. You’ll be thankful for taking the time out to do this when none of your food is expired.

PUT EVERYTHING IN ITS PLACE

You need a place for everything because everything has its place. Assign specific living quarters to everything you own–this will keep you extremely organized and lessen the clutter. If everything has a place and everything is in its place, this means that cleaning up will take no time at all and finding things will be even easier!
