THE BEST SUMMER HAIR PRODUCTS

Summer is here☀️ and if you’re not already by the poolside, we bet you’re planning on being there very soon.

All vinas know to protect our skin by using sunscreen, and to protect our body by staying hydrated by drinking lots of water, but did you know our hair needs some extra love in the summertime, too? Personally, I keep it simple with chlorine removal shampoo, dry shampoo between washes, texture spray to get beachy waves when not at the beach, and hair treatments to protect my tresses while restoring its moisture. I’m all for ballin’ on a budget, so most of what I use is pretty budget-friendly.

Here are a few of my must-have summer hair products:

CHLORINE REMOVAL SHAMPOO

This is super important if you’re going to be in the pool since chlorine is super damaging to all hair types. Even if your hair is like mine and already damaged, let’s not make it any worse, mmkay?

What I’m loving: I’m going with old faithful here, Ultra Swim Chlorine Removal Shampoo which you can get for under $4.

BEACH TEXTURE SPRAY

So maybe you’re landlocked and can’t get to the beach, but want to feel like a mermaid with salty, beach-wave hair. Well, lucky for you, there are quite a few brands that make a spray to help us out. These types of products are made with sea salt to give your hair the texture you would have if you spent the day at the beach. Perfect for those beachy waves!

What I’m loving: Not Your Mother’s Beach Baby Soft Waves Spray, Bumble & Bumble Surf Spray, and John Frieda Beach Blonde Sea Waves.

Side note: NYM also has a texturizing dry shampoo that works just as well (Not Your Mother’s Beach Babe Texturizing Dry Shampoo).

Side-side note: Another option instead of the spray is a shampoo that is infused with the salt. One great example would be Bumble & Bumble Surf Foam Wash Shampoo and Conditioner. With this type of shampoo, you would want to let your hair air dry for best results.

DRY SHAMPOO

Being at the beach or the pool all day means we probably aren’t trying to wash our hair every day. I know when I go on vacation, I don’t think there would be a point to wash and dry it, just to get it back in the pool the next day. So this is where a dry shampoo would really come in handy. Plus, its just nice to use in-between washes.

HAIR TREATMENTS

We’re spending all day in the pool, at the beach, in the sun and yes, our hair definitely needs some love after all that. I’m a huge fan of hair masks and treatments that help make my hair feel healthy again.
