I know most of our vinas are busy babes who are juggling life, love, career, and kids, but everyone needs some time for a good old fashion binge-watching session. I know I am not the only one who hates queuing up your streaming services and not being able to find a damn thing to watch. So I’ve combined a list of the shows that I’m obsessed with.
OK ladies, so pull out your fave loungewear, sheet mask, and snacks—and get comfy because this list contains a little something for everyone.
1. Ozark: My spouse and I binge-watched this show one weekend. The show stars Jason Bateman and get this: he’s playing a shady ass financial adviser. We know Bateman for his comedic roles, but to see him playing in a dark drama was refreshing. If you enjoy a little mystery and a dash of drama, this show is for you. (Streaming now on Netflix).
2. Riverdale: I fell in love with this show because I had a passion for Archie Comics as a child, and this is not the bubbly and cute comic we’re used to. Riverdale takes a deep and dark dive into our favorite characters—granted some of the storylines can be a tad bit campy, but I am sure you will get pulled in with this teen drama mystery. 3. Handmaid’s Tale: I attempted to binge-watch this show in one day … and boy, I had to take breaks because the storyline is so deep. This show centers around a totalitarian government that treats women as property. Based on a book, this series will have you looking at people sideways and wanting to get your affairs in order. 4. Dear White People: I admit I never watched the movie, but I figured I’d give the series a try. Dear White People follows, a group of African American students who attend an Ivy League school. What I like about this show is that it provides multiple perspectives on the African American experience in America while also providing you with romantic drama and comedy. 5. Younger: This series follows a middle age, broke divorcee who has to reinvent herself as a 20-something-year-old woman to score her dream book publishing job. The main character Liza is forced to adapt to a millennial society, i.e. (social media, slang, and dating). This show is the perfect amount of drama and comedy. (Find episodes on TV Land).
6. Queer Eye More Than a Makeover: Ya’ll, I binged-watched this show when it first came out a couple of months ago and honestly cried during every episode. If you’re unfamiliar with the original series that debuted in the early 2000s, the show follows the Fab 5 who travels around the city and gives men and sometimes your occasional woman a makeover. They’re not only giving them makeovers—they are, in fact, peeling away their layers to get to the root of an insecurity. When you think that your tear ducts are finally drying up, the Fab 5 drops another season. Get your tissues ready because this show will have you feeling all the feels. (Streaming now on Netflix).
7. She’s Gotta Have It: This series follows the dating life of Nola, an African American Artist and feminist. Nola is juggling several different partners, each partner providing her with what she requires in a fulfilling relationship. I love the sexual freedom depicted in this series, as Nola is that friend who does what she wants, no matter what. This series is refreshing, and I can’t wait for the next season. 8. Grace and Frankie: Rivals-turned-BFFs Grace and Frankie are coping with the unthinkable: their husbands are in love with each other. It centers around the two women coping with becoming divorcees, finding their true passions, and crazy family drama. This show will have you in stitches. (Streaming now on Netflix).
9. Insecure: Issa is a modern day black woman dealing with an unmotivated boyfriend, a successful best friend who can’t seem to get her dating life in order and more. 10. Atypical: Sam is a high school teenager who happens to fall on the autistic spectrum. Sam is ready for love, but he has to deal with a helicopter mother, and his friends and family giving him endless dating tips. This show is hilarious and also provides insight on the obstacles people with autism may face. (Streaming now on Netflix).
