Scientific rationale to make you feel good

February is the month of looooooove, but you know what’s even better than loving someone else… you guessed it, loving yourself! So come a little closer, vinas. Let’s get intimate here.

What’s so wrong with being a master of your domain? We were taught to keep it hush hush. Masturbation is totally not inappropriate and not a misdeed. Get over it! Celebrating your body by loving on your vagina can relieve tension. It’s science. Forgoing your sexual urges is less human than getting in touch with your vulva. (Pun intended) So, let’s talk about sex (with yourself) baby!

No one is home, it was a hard day at work, and you’re getting that “special feeling.” Fuel that urge, grab that favorite toy (or hand) and release those endorphins. That’s right, touching yourself and climaxing releases endorphins and relieves tension after a long stressful day. Wine is plenty fine to unwind, but orgasm is better, babe.

Studies show that regular masturbation can relieve insomnia, boosts your immunity, and even your metabolism.

Ummm, you didn’t get your HIIT workout in for the day, no problem! Get your heart rate up in another way. Rub one out. Studies show you can burn an average of 3-4 calories per minute while masturbating. That sounds a lot more fun than a high intensity interval training session to me any day!

Need more convincing it’s good for your health? The leading cause of death in women is heart disease, says the AHA. Heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women.

Let’s bring the mood up a bit. Masturbation can increase the blood flow in your body. More studies say that women who masturbate are less susceptible to heart disease than those who don’t masturbate. So, do it for your heart. 💖

Us ladies aren’t going to be young forever now, are we? Aging is happening, whether we like it or not. Touching yourself can help strengthen your pelvic floor muscles that often weaken with age. Let’s turn those boring kegels into something a little more exciting. Need I say more?

The list goes on and on about the benefits of masturbation. So, light a candle, put on some nice music, and grab your favorite toy (if you don’t have one yet, I’m a big fan of what’s going on over at Unbound). Become one with yourself, learn about your body, you’ll have better sex the more you figure out exactly what feels good for you. This can only improve your morale and sex life.

Liberate, explore, and ORGASM!
