Long considered the “ugly step-sister” to the bright lights of Las Vegas, Reno has been going through a Renaissance the past few years, and is starting to brush the dust off. A quick drive from Lake Tahoe, it’s the perfect place to grab some Vina’s and get away.
Where to stay:
Renaissance: The newest hotel to grace “The Biggest Little City in The World” is the Reno Renaissance. Located just off of downtown, this non-smoking and non-gambling hotel provides the perfect place to slip away. Enjoy the rooftop pool during the day, and at night head downstairs to play a game of Bocce Ball and enjoy a cocktail.
El Dorado: A staple down-town. The El Dorado is owned by the owners of Ferrari Carano Winery (a must-do if you head to Sonoma County). Enjoy an amazing dinner at The Roxy, or take a chance on the blackjack table.
Atlantis: If downtown isn’t your speed, and a spa day is on your radar, then park your car at the Atlantis and stay a few days. With a shuttle to take you to the airport and downtown, if you want to leave you can, but chances are after you get a massage and facial at the spa, you won’t be leaving anytime soon.
