LEARN A CRAFT WITH YOUR VINA!

Crafting is SO much fun and a great way to get in some QT with your vinas.

Hey vinas! When was the last time you did arts and crafts? If you say elementary school, you’re really not livin’. Now answer this: When was the last time you pinned a project to your “Crafts I’ll do someday” Pinterest Board? Yeah you were just about to stop reading this, just to go do that right?

The thing is, crafting is really fun and doable, but we can’t dive into some crazy DIY pallet-wood-bar-cart-building project..DIY my a**! Don’t let online project descriptions deter you from actually picking up and mastering a craft with your vina! It’s an awesome way to bond and #tbh way less expensive than dropping cash on drinks at a bar. And if you’re in the Bay Area, you are in luck because I’m about to give you a list of the coolest spots to take craft classes!

PLAY WITH CLAY

This is a great studio in El Cerrito that offers ceramics classes at all different levels! If you missed out on ceramics in high school, like I did, I recommend the beginner level, obvi. The teachers are super helpful and informative! And if you and your vina are clay masters, they offer studio time including clay for just $10!

WORKSHOPSF

WorkshopSF is my favorite place to learn in the city. Alright, I’m a little biased because I teach the Soy Candle Making class, but hey, candles are the tip of the iceberg at Workshop! You’ll walk into this studio and become an artsy creator instantly—the place is covered in art projects! WorkshopSF offers Pickling, Indigo Dyeing, Leather Working, Sewing Bootcamp, and so so many more! So grab a couple drinks on Divisadero and head to McAllister to #drinkbeermakestuff!

Excited for the waxed canvas bag class to be in the regular schedule all the time now. Thanks to our buds in Portland @klumhouse! Stoked for their new shop space and check out our classes with this waxed canvas bag. No joke its my everyday purse now I love it so much. So soft and tough. Like me. #sewing #bayareathreadbangers #workshopsf #getcreative #makestuff #klumhouse

If you’re not looking to get turnt while crafting, Rare Bird Makers Studio is perfect! It’s right on Piedmont in Oakland, surrounded by cute cafes to grab brunch at so you won’t have to go to class hungry! Rare Bird Studio offers classes from Encaustic Wax Collage to Metal Jewelry Making to Meditation. And a major bonus feature is the 20% off you get when you shop at their boutique the day of any class you take!

A WORK OF HEART

For anyone in the South Bay, this spot in San Jose is great for you! They really embrace anyone who takes their classes as an artist, and they offer a bunch of classes, so you’re guaranteed to find your craft. They’ve got Mixed Media classes, Torch Enameling workshops, even Watercolor!

#workparty the season has begun! If you are looking for a fun way to celebrate together look no further #aworkofheartstudio is your place for creating cool stuff together. We do all the work.. And clean up too!

These are just a few of my favorite studios to learn new things! If you’re not in the Bay Area, I promise there is something near you—the thing about artists is that they are everywhere! So grab a vina, and seek out a new craft!
