Fun Life Hacks Parties

THROW THE ULTIMATE DAY PARTY

Hosting a day party? Do it the right way with these tips.

Dayger, darty, day party… call it what you will. We may not be able to agree on a term for this event, but it’s clear we all agree on one thing: when the sun’s out, it’s time to celebrate. Whether it’s a quaint gathering or a full-blown fiesta, here are six hostessing must-haves:

THE RIGHT PLAYLIST

Save the EDM for the dance clubs. Day parties have a chiller vibe, which means more mellow music. Stick to genres like reggae, country, or throwbacks to put your guests at ease and set the tone for the rest of the day. You may have invited your vinas, but in this instance, Spotify is your best friend.

DELICIOUS DRINKS

Not many people are down to down shots midday. Provide a light, sweet drink that every partygoer can enjoy, and serve it in a  communal beverage dispenser for easy access and a more contained cleanup. Alcoholic teas, sangria, or daiquiris will all hit the spot.

WATER…LOTS OF IT

Hate to harp, but water is a must. Sunlight and alcohol can be a deadly combo.  The sunlight puts you at high risk for dehydration, and alcohol only adds to that. Heatstroke and severe sunburn are other potential problems. Talk about party fouls! Keep you and your guests safe.

FOOD 4 DAYS

What better excuse to fire up the grill? Go the all-American route and dish up burgers or dogs, or try something a little more adventurous. To really treat your guests perhaps serve these authentic tacos. Not a chef? At least throw some chips and dip on the table. Everyone will love you when the drunchies kick in.

DECOR

It’s hard to evoke the party vibe outdoors without some decoration. Nothing major is necessary, but a few lights, coordinating cups and plates or subtle table centerpieces can really spruce up the space. If you’re feeling especially festive, set up a backdrop to take photos in front of and provide silly accessories like hats, glasses, or signs. Everybody loves a good #photoop.

PLAY STATION

You may all be over 21, but face it, you’re still kids at heart. Set up some collapsible tables around your yard or patio for games like flip cup, beer pong, or drunk Jenga. Nothing gets the party going quite like these go-to games.
