How long have we been waiting for this?! Every year it feels like forever before the bright yellow thing in the sky we thought we’d never see outside of office hours again returns. Sixty minutes might not seem like a lot of time, but if you use it right, the extra hour of sun that comes with daylight savings can make your day.
Time to go outdoors and luxuriate in the light! Here are some suggestions on how to make the most of it:
WALKING ON SUNSHINE
Text your vina to take a stroll outside. Grab some coffee or ice cream to go, and soak up that extra bit of Vitamin D. Try walking at a location with a view, perhaps by a river or near a forest, to make your walk that much more worthwhile.
HAPPY [EXTRA] HOUR
Long gone are the days of waiting to get a cozy seat inside the pub or restaurant. Have your afterwork drinks outside! Bars and restaurants will open up their outside seating areas soon, and sitting below a heat lamp is just the thing to get you in the mood for the warmer temperatures to come.
TAKE A DIFFERENT ROUTE
Instead of sitting in the dark and crowded subway all the way home, take the bus. Or, even better, walk or bike home from work! You’ll see your area from a whole new lens. Who knows, you might even find a new shop or restaurant to explore.
PREPARE YOUR GARDEN FOR SUMMER
What better way to appreciate the beautiful weather than with some blossoms? Put your gardening gloves on, grab some soil, and plant colorful flowers in either pots or a garden. You’ll thank yourself later.
If you haven’t started on your New Year’s resolution yet, better late than never! Make use of that extra hour of sunlight by doing outdoor exercises you were unable to do in the winter. There are plenty of options. Join a boot camp or a running club. Sign up for outdoor yoga. Fresh air beats the stench of the gym any day of the week.
ENJOY YOUR MOMENT IN THE SUN
Not that much into exercising? Put some extra layers on, and travel to Balconia for the evening. If you don’t have a balcony or patio of your own, link up with a vina who does. Pop some bubbly or prepare a pot of tea, and soak up the sun before it sets.
