BEAT THE MID-WINTER BLUES

With the holidays over and (depending where you are) the cold winter chill setting in, it’s easy to start feeling a little blue. Even when you have the best support system of vinas you could ask for, and even if you’re a die-hard winter fan, it’s hard to fight the dreary feeling that comes with little-to-no sunlight and warmth on your face. This winter, we’ve got some important tips you can incorporate into your routine to keep you feeling more “yay” and less “nay.”

GET MOVIN’

Everyone’s heard of the runner’s high – the endorphins released post-workout are the perfect pick-me-up for any girl feeling a little down. You might not feel so great before (or, let’s be honest, during), but after a good workout your body will thank you with renewed energy and a good night’s sleep.

VINA-DATE!

What better way to cheer up than a night with your girls? Go to a favorite hang out and dance the night away, or have a chill night at home with “New Girl” re-runs and some chocolate. Your vinas will have you laughing in no time, and you’ll be left smiling a little easier. Or even better, meet some new gal pals to hang out with on Hey! VINA!

TRY A NEW HOBBY

In the winter, it’s often easiest to grab your comfiest blanket and snuggle up with a new Netflix binge. Instead, though, try out a new hobby – crack open a coloring book, read an interesting book, or try to DIY-knit a blanket you’ve been eyeing on Pinterest.

MAKE A NEW PLAYLIST

One of the best ways to cheer yourself up is with some of your favorite tunes. Our suggestion? Make a throwback playlist of some of your best middle-school hits – you know, the ones that you somehow know every word to, even now. Save this playlist for days when you just can’t shake off the blues.

TRY ESSENTIAL OILS

Essential oil diffusers are all the rage, and for good reason. If you’re feeling stressed, under the weather, sad, or all of the above, there’s an essential oil for that. Research to figure out what scent will help your sitch, and try it out!
