Ever since the first season of Serial in late-2014 the number of podcasts has been on the up-and-up every year. For those of us who have long commutes, podcasts are often what keep us entertained when driving or standing on the subway. And if you’re anything like me, you want to share your podcasts with the world. If so – consider starting a podcast club!

Much like a book club, a podcast club focuses on bringing together a group of people over the shared love of a podcast. Whether a weekly show, a bi-weekly show, or a monthly show, there is a podcast out there that will be perfect for you and your vinas!

Starting your podcast club can look like a few different things:

Many podcasts already have Facebook groups set up for their fans. This is a great way to engage the hosts as well as other listeners. Additionally, many of these groups will set up meet ups for fellow fans. This can be a great way to meet some new people if you’re new to a city – or if you’re just looking to expand your horizons.

My co-workers and I listen to a lot of the same podcasts! A few times a week we will take a quick break and talk about if we’ve listened to the latest episode yet and what we think about it. This is a great lunch time activity and a great way to get to know others in your office that you don’t work with closely.

If your best vina lives far away, consider creating a podcast group just the two of you. It gives you an excuse to touch base every week and ensures that you make time for each other. Plus, you’ll always have something to chat about during catch-up sessions!

Looking for some great lady-themed podcasts to listen to? Check these ones out:

  • Stuff Mom Never Told You – Feminist history and current events hosted by two women
  • Stuff You Missed in History Class – Great historical stories told by two smart women
  • Spirits – Two best friends talking about mythology from around the world
  • Still Buffering – Three sisters talking about what it was like to be a teen in the 90s and being a teen today

Happy listening! What are you fave podcasts? Tell us in the comments!
