COZY UP WITH YOUR FRIENDS THIS WINTER WITH THESE NETFLIX CLASSICS

Not every night is a Friday night out on the town. Sometimes a girl just needs a night in to let loose with the junk food and the comfy clothes. So grab the popcorn and a bottle of wine with your new vinas and settle in for a few of the best of what Netflix has to offer.

GILMORE GIRLS

I know this is considered an oldie (especially for Netflix), but with the new season coming up, it’s the perfect time to get to know Lorelai, Rory, and the rest of the Stars Hollow family. While the writing has yet to be matched by any other sitcom, it’s the back and forth chemistry between Lauren Graham and Alexis Bliedel that really keeps you watching through all seven seasons.
Gilmore Girls is a classic, for sure, but it’s best enjoyed with other vinas looking to share a night of wine, quips, and relationship drama. Just make sure to stock up on junk food before you push play.

DC COMIC SHOWS

If you love the Batman and Superman movies, you’ll appreciate the bite-sized Netflix originals featuring a fantastic cast of comic book characters. Daredevil, Arrow, The Flash, and Jessica Jones are all great options when you want to grab a few vinas, escape monotonous routines, and jump into an entertaining adventure.
Don’t forget everyone’s new favorite, Luke Cage. These shows touch on real issues and important social commentary while managing to remain intriguing and entertaining. Luke’s (AKA Carl’s) interaction with his friends and mentors plays an important role in his development as a person and as a reluctant superhero. It’s his hesitancy to take on the awesome responsibility of restoring Harlem that sets him apart from so  many other Marvel characters.
Pro-Tip: Watch the shows in order and you’ll see a universe that Netflix has obviously crafted with an eye for detail. Watch Arrow and Flash side by side, for example, and you’ll see the stories connect in ways you couldn’t otherwise.

16 CANDLES

On May 4, 1984, the world was introduced to the classic John Hughes film, Sixteen Candles, and our lives have never been the same. It’s a classic that deserves revisiting with the vinas you’ve known for years. Molly Ringwald shines as the overlooked, out of place, high schooler lost in the shuffle as her sister prepares to get married. It’s a great movie for those of who never did fit in. Sam’s friendship with Randy is the perfect reminder of how we all need someone to talk to when things don’t always go our way, and yes, there is a fairy tale ending for us too, even if it’s not the one we thought it would be. Seriously, who doesn’t want the heartthrob to drive by in his red convertible?!
No matter what you choose to watch, a Netflix night isn’t really complete without a few friends to keep you company. So swipe right, connect with a few new vinas, and get started!

I hate long walks on the beach and candle-lit dinners, but love roller coasters and the ocean. My favorite foods include bread pudding and chocolate covered grasshoppers. I am married to the love of my life and soon hope to add 2.5 dogs to the family. For fun, I enjoy reading good stories and exercising my second amendment rights. When I need the energy, I listen to U2, the 77's, and AC/DC along with a wide variety of country favorites. My favorite movies include "Breakfast at Tiffany's", "When Harry Met Sally" and "The Shining". I like being the first to disparage a popular trend before the other hipsters and can often be found at Starbucks (I'm the customer not yelling at the barista about too much foam).
