Fun fact: Canadian Thanksgiving is October 10th. With American Thanksgiving not too far away, we thought now would be the perfect time to throw together some Friendsgiving tips.
If you don’t know what Friendsgiving is, it’s when your vina fam gets together for a Thanksgiving meal instead of, or in addition to, celebrating with family relations. It’s a fun excuse to host a dinner party and a great opportunity to let your vinas know how thankful you are to have them in your life.
Here are 3 tips to help you throw a flawless Friendsgiving:
PICK THE RIGHT EVENING
You have some options for the actual date of the event. You can throw a Friendsgiving on the holiday for you and your vinas who can’t travel home. Try hosting it on a different night so that even those who are spending the holiday with family can still participate in the Friendsgiving activities. It’s really up to you! Choose what feels right, but hosting it on a surrounding evening will stop anyone from having to choose between their vinas and their family.
MAKE IT A POTLUCK
As a host, you have enough to worry about without having to supply all the eats. Either make a list and have people sign up to bring dishes, or just assign them yourself. Everyone is usually happy to contribute. Offer to make the turkey because that is the dish that is most difficult to transport. Let your vinas bring the rest!
By now, you’ve probably gathered that we love DIY here at VINA, and we’re allllll about crafternooning. Turn this into a vina-date by inviting some of your gals over the afternoon before the festivities and start crafting! Pinterest is your new best friend.
Friendsgiving will be easy-peasy with these simple tips! Will you be throwing a dinner party with your vinas this year?
